Central Connect partners with Urban&Civic to launch direct Waterbeach to Cambridge bus

Central Connect, the local bus operating division of Transport Made Simple, are delighted to announce the launch of the brand new number 100 bus service, which began on 7th July 2025.
Developed in partnership with Urban&Civic, this service delivers a fast and reliable connection between the growing community at Waterbeach and key destinations on the way to Cambridge City Centre, including Cambridge Research Park, Waterbeach Village, Waterbeach Railway Station, Horningsea and Fen Ditton.

The service operates from the Sustainable Travel Hub on the Waterbeach development, providing half-hourly journeys during the day on Mondays to Saturdays, and hourly departures in the evening and on Sundays. Timetables have also been designed to connect with London-bound trains at Waterbeach Railway Station wherever possible, enabling seamless onward travel and reducing waiting times for passengers. The route has been planned to avoid known traffic pinch points, reducing journey times and improving reliability throughout the day.

The launch of this service represents another successful partnership between Central Connect and a housing developer, underlining our growing role in working alongside residential and commercial developers across the Midlands and East of England. By designing innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable transport solutions, we’re helping new communities to thrive whilst supporting regional mobility and economic growth.

Fares start from £2.50 for adult single journeys to Cambridge (capped until October 2025), with daily, weekly and monthly tickets available for regular travellers. Group discounts are available and children under five travel free, encouraging families to take advantage of the new service. We’re also offering discounted tickets to Waterbeach Development residents in partnership with Smart Journeys, designed and created by our in-house marketing and product delivery teams.

With high-specification buses, integrated connections, and affordable fares, service 100 is set to become a vital link for both new and existing communities along the corridor between Waterbeach and Cambridge.
