Simonds sees success with Norwich Park & Ride contract win

Simonds, a recent acquisition by Transport Made Simple, are pleased to have been awarded the contract to run Park and Ride services from the Harford and Postwick sites, in Norwich, following Norfolk County Council’s competitive tendering process.

The future of the 552 space Postwick Park & Ride site had been uncertain, with closure on the cards due to lower passenger demand. However, the new contract, which saw Simonds take over operations from 30th March 2025, secures the site’s future without the need for public subsidy.

We’re confident that our signature combination of high quality, reliable service delivery, friendly drivers and industry leading customer service will see this service be successful, attracting car drivers who want to avoid the hassle and expense of driving into the centre of Norwich.

The enhanced Park & Ride network offers earlier journeys in the morning, making it easier for commuters to get into the city for work or study. In the evenings, services run later, giving passengers greater flexibility for shopping, leisure, and social activities.

Sites also benefit from increased frequency, reduced waiting times and a more reliable service throughout the day. Sunday services have been introduced across all Park & Ride locations, ensuring that residents and visitors have convenient travel options seven days a week. These improvements have been delivered while maintaining continued low fares, supported by funding from the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), keeping Park & Ride an affordable and attractive choice for travellers.

As part of the launch celebrations, Simonds colleagues enjoyed a successful day meeting passengers at The Forum in Norwich on Saturday 22nd March. Visitors had the opportunity to step aboard some of the buses that will be used on the new routes, explore their features, and ask questions about the improved services. To add to the festivities, a specially made bus-shaped cake proved a popular talking point – and a tasty one too.
